Chad Enterprise Awards Good Luck to All Entrants

Marathon Marketing Managing Director; Diane Carter has been invited to be on the judging panel for the 2010 Chad Business Enterprise Awards.

Diane stated “I want to wish good luck to all the entrants and I am looking forward to hearing their presentations. The Chad have asked me what qualities I will be looking for when selecting my chosen award winners. I believe in utilising local products and services wherever possible. Also I will be interested to hear what plans the businesses have in place for stability and growth. Green issues have to be relevant in any 21st Century business even in our current climate so I will be interested in any changes that businesses have made to ‘save the planet’. Also I love to see businesses that have discovered a niche in the market for their product or service. Good luck once again to everyone nominated”.

Marathon Marketing is going to be working with Paul Craddock, Project Manager on the promotion for the new Robin Hood Activity Centre, Blidworth. Marathon Marketing is thrilled to be chosen to work alongside this fabulous local development. The Activity Centre is due to open its doors officially early 2011, but bookings are being taken from this September. The centre will be available to both residential and non residential young people and adults. The site will attract a vast range of visitors including; scouts and guides, youth clubs, community groups and school children plus it will provide an ideal venue for children?s or adult parties and a much needed local ?drop in? play/activity area. Watch this space for continued developments

Play the numbers Game?

Send out hundreds or even of thousands of emails to potential clients?

Many of my business colleagues say to me that on a Monday morning they can have over a hundred emails waiting and they will simply delete the ones with addressees they don?t recognise, articles that look boring or are obviously circulars with no pre-thought put into them.

Whilst we at Marathon Marketing appreciate that internet marketing can be a fabulous means of promoting your business for a low cost or even for FREE, we would like to offer a few tips to actually get your emails read and not the reader RED! Grrrr…

If it is a circular email, without names entered, ensure it is addressed to Sirs or Madams ? Obvious?
If you are using your own software such as a CRM system, ensure that ALL email addresses are in the BCC field (Blind Carbon Copy). Businesses don?t want their name exposed to hundreds of other contacts. Vital if purchased data through a specific target provider.
Offer an interesting but short punchy title ? benefits to their business!
Ensure you use the correct email address for the person you are emailing. Don?t just go to info@ or sales@. It is so simple to visit the website and get the correct person with the direct contact. Think a little more!
When writing the email, again, short and sharp with the business benefits to the potential client. They should not need to scroll to read the email. Don’t forget this is a ‘carrot’ taster!
Tidy text and spelling checks again are both often ignored but are vital.
If you get emails through your website ?contacts page? call do not email. They have probably emailed about 5 companies and the one who makes the effort often gets the deal! Call them direct within 24 hours unless specifically requested not to.
Do not use the email as a ?scape-goat?. If you have any issues with clients, suppliers or service providers use the phone or personally visit, as often messages are mis-read and do a lot of damage.
Also set specific times of the busy business day for email checking and replying. You don?t want to appear none- busy with constant replies unless essential information or an immediate response is required
Top Tip ? If you are not sure about an email, re-read it and then leave over night. Think twice about the READER not the writer!

Mansfield Chad half marathon

“Once again, I took to the streets with one of my favourite passions, running, This time it was the Mansfield Chad half marathon, a yearly event that is well supported and offers a fantastic atmosphere.

Due to the overwhelming generosity of the members of the Mansfield Rotary Club and the donations by many local business we managed to raise over OVER £400 for the Lincolnshire and Nottingham Air Ambulance. They provide a wonderful life saving service and I was amazed they were not paid by the government but thrived on sponsorship and donations.
